SNC2D - Personal Study Materials

Beschreibung

Hello! This is a study set I made for my science class. The class is at the Ontario Grade 10 University/Academic level with the course code SNC2D. Questions, answers, and explanations are directly copied from practice quizzes in the course and will cover topics like climate, chemistry, biology, and optics (physics). I'll update this with every quiz I get in my course!

Zusammenfassung der Ressource

Frage 1

Frage
Small changes in earth’s orbit and periodic changes in the sun’s energy aren’t enough to have caused significant climate changes in the past.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 2

Frage
Gases such as argon, carbon dioxide, water vapour and methane make up a tiny percentage of the air and don’t play an important role in regulating our climate.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 3

Frage
The troposphere is a layer of the atmosphere that is closest to the earth’s surface and has a large impact on climate.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 4

Frage
The saltwater oceans don’t impact the earth’s climate in a significant way because freshwater is more abundant.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 5

Frage
Most of the hydrosphere is composed of freshwater.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 6

Frage
The main greenhouse gases—such as carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapour—naturally occur in the atmosphere at very low levels.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 7

Frage
Heat transfer without a medium: [blank_start]radiation[blank_end] Heat transfer in a gas or liquid: [blank_start]convection[blank_end] Heat transfer in a metal rod: [blank_start]conduction[blank_end] Colour that absorbs a large amount of heat: [blank_start]black[blank_end] Colour that reflects a large amount of heat: [blank_start]white[blank_end]
Antworten
  • radiation
  • convection
  • conduction
  • black
  • white

Frage 8

Frage
The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring process and is necessary for life on Earth, so it can’t be a problem.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 9

Frage
The greenhouse effect occurs because the ultraviolet radiation cannot escape Earth’s atmosphere and warms the planet further.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 10

Frage
When the earth absorbs the sun’s radiant energy, it is transformed into heat energy, warming the planet.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 11

Frage
It would be better if we could get rid of all carbon dioxide.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 12

Frage
Nitrogen and Ozone are greenhouse gases.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 13

Frage
Most of our atmosphere consists of nitrogen and oxygen.
Antworten
  • True
  • False

Frage 14

Frage
The production and burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil are significant contributors to the production of greenhouse gases.
Antworten
