Frage Antworten
Describe the test for chlorine gas damp blue litmus paper --> (red) --> white. it is bleached
Describe the test for hydrogen lighted splint in tube full of a gas... if it makes a 'squeaky pop' Then hydrogen is your gas!
Describe the test for oxygen glowing splint in test tube of gas... if the splint relights .... oxygen is your gas! (not mine)
What product is made in the electrolysis of salt? chlorine gas
What products are made in the electrolysis of water? hydrogen and oxygen
what is the product usually produce? gas
what is the neutralisation reaction equation? acid + base --> salt + water
what acid does the stomach produce? hydrochloric acid
Why does the stomach produce HCL? to help with digestion
When you have too much hydrochloric acid in the stomach, what do you get? indigestion
how do you control indigestion? take tablets which contain bases such as calcium carbonate, this neutralises the excess acid, turning it into water
what are bases? a metal hydroxide/ oxide
what are the equations for hydroxide and oxide? acid + metal oxide --> salt + water acid + metal hydroxide --> salt + water
Try these: Hydrochloric acid + copper oxide -->? Sulfuric acid + calcium hydroxide -->? nitric acid + potassium hydroxide-->? BOYS DO BALANCED SYMBOL EQUATIONS!!! hydrochloric --> copper chloride + water sulfuric --> calcium sulfate + water nitric acid --> potassium nitrate water
acid + carbonate --> .....+........+.... salt + water+ carbon dioxide
hydrochloric acid + sodium carbonate --> sodium......... +.........+......... GUYS...SYMBOLS! chloride + water +carbon dioxide
What does electrolysis mean? "splitting up with electricity" (the bwig bwully! :S)
what is an electrolyte the liquid required to conduct electricity
what is an electrode? it is were the electricity is applied to the elctrolyte
you must ALWAYS have a ........... current in electrolysis DIRECT! heehee!
What is the symbol for oxidizing -what does it mean? a circle with a flame above it. It means provides oxygen which allows other materials to burn more fiercely.
What is the symbol for highly flammable? What does it mean? flame - catches fire easily
what is the symbol for toxic? What does it mean? Skull and cross bones - can cause death either by swallowing, breathing in, or absorption through the skin.
what is the big X with the little 'h' stand for? HARMFUL - like toxic but not quite as dangerous
what does the big 'X' with the little 'i' stand for? CORROSIVE - attacks and destroys living tissues, including eyes and skin.
What pH does a strong acid have? 0/1
What pH does a strong base have? 14
what is the pH for neutral? 7
what colours are in the acid range? from red to light green/yellow
what colours are in the range for bases? From blue to dark purple
How Did You Do? :> DESPICABLE! TRY AGAIN
