Ambitious /æmˈbɪʃ.əs/ ex. She has a very ambitious plan for her daughter´s future. A strong desire for success and achievement. (money and power, mainly)
Conscientious /ˌkɒn.ʃiˈen.ʃəs/ ex. A conscientious essay in what moral is. A great and conscious effort in a task.
Introverted /ˈɪn.trə.vɜːt/ ex. He is an introverted kid. Someone who prefers to be in solitude rather than surrounded by people. (may be due to shyness)
Extrovert /ˈek.strə.vɜːt/ ex. She has lots of friends, it must be due to her extrovert peronality. An outgoing person, very friendly and energetic, who enjoys being with other people.
Honest /ˈɒn.ɪst/ ex. All my friends are trustworthy, they are all very honest. Someone who do not lie or cheat but tells the truth.
Frank /fræŋk/ ex. My boss´s so frank that it hurts. Someone who tells the truth even when it might be awkward.
Direct /daɪˈrekt/ /dɪˈrekt/ ex. You are so direct, you never baffle me. To go straight to the point whitout beating around the bush.
Outspoken /ˌaʊtˈspəʊ.kən/ ex. I know she´s outspoken and all but I can´t help but getting mad at her. To express opinions or ideas without worrying if others are ofended.
Open (as an adjective) /ˈəʊ.pən/ ex. My teacher is so open, he is so approachable. Someone who is not closed but very accesible.
The luck of the draw. ex. Cheer up, you can´t choose who your siblings are. It´s just the luck of the draw. Something you can´t control. The result is by chance, you don´t have power over it.
Take a pot of luck ex. Just take a pot of luck, you may win the car. To take a chance. To choose something whitout knowing what the result it´s going to be. Yo can only hope for the best.
To be out of luck ex. Oh gosh. I´m definitely out of luck. Today I missed the bus, consequently I couldn´t take the exam. To have bad luck .
Push your luck ex- I´d be pushing my luck if I play again. To risk losing the fortune one has garnered by seeking more.
No such luck. ex. I thought she would stop yelling at me, but no such luck, she just kept going. To be disappointed due to something didn´t happen as you expected (or hoped)
By a stroke of luck ex. Getting my book signed was definitely a stroke of luck, I came across with her in the street. When something marvelous,totally unexpected, happens.
