What are organelles?	Structures suspended in the cytoplasm that carry out a particular function
What is the cytoplasm?	A thick fluid within the cell in which the organelles are suspended in
What are inclusions?	Chemical substances that are not apart of the cell but are found within the cytoplasm
What is the cell membrane?	An outer boundary which protects the cell and determines what can/cannot enter the cell
What is cytosol?	The liquid part of the cytoplasm
What is the function of the Golgi Body?	They modify proteins and package them in vesicles for secretion from the cell
What is the function of the mitochondria?	Mitochondria release energy for the cell through cellular respiration
What is the function of the nucleus?	Contains genetic material (DNA) and has nuclear pores through which large molecules can pass
What is the function of the Endoplasmic Reticulum?	Provides a surface on which chemical reactions can occur
What is the function of ribosomes?	Amino acids are joined together at the ribosomes to make proteins
What is cilia?	Short an numerous hair-like projections that allow for cell movement in some cells
What is flagella?	Long, singular or double projections which allow movement of certain cells e.g. Tail of sperm
Why are cells so small?	Cells are so small to ensure there is a high surface area to allow fast and efficient diffusion of required nutrients etc.
