Frage Antworten
Light Is a form of energy belonging to the electromagnetic spectrum.
Parallax Is the difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight.
Stereopsis Visual information taken from both eyes with the brain processing both images to enhance depth perception.
Parallax error e.g. reading a speedometer whilst moving head from side to side.
Normal. Perpendicular line drawn at point of incidence of light.
Incident ray light ray coming into the mirror
Reflected ray Light ray leaving the mirror.
Plane 2D surface.
Luminous source. Light source which generates it's own light e.g. glowstick/sun/lightbulb
Non-luminous source Light source which reflects of another source e.g. Book/shirt/floor
Real image An image caused by the actual intersection of light rays.
Virtual image an image caused by the apparent intersection of light rays
Curved mirrors Are part of the surface of a spherical mirror.
Concave Inside of sphere
Convex Outside of sphere
Inertia The measure of the body's ability to resist change in velocity. (Being thrown forward when a moving car stops)
Scalars Measurements with magnitude but no direction. (Speed/length)
Vectors measurements with magnitude and direction (Velocity/Momentum)
Lever A lever is a ridged body to rotate about a fixed point called a fulcrum (Door)
Hydrometer Device for measuring density.
Wave A wave is a transfer of energy without the net movement of the medium.
A standing/stationary wave. A wave that doesn't transfer energy and the amplitude is a constant.
Wavelength (Lambda) The distance between two consecutive peaks/troughs.
Frequency Number of oscillations per second.
Reflection. Bouncing of a wave off an object.
Refraction Waves refract when moving from one medium to another.
Diffraction the spreading of waves as they pass through gaps or around the edge of obstacles.
Doppler effect The apparent change in frequency due to the relative motion of a sound source and observer.
Polarisation When transverse waves in one plane can be blocked by a filter (3D movies)
Resonance The natural transfer of energy between two bodies with the same natural frequency.
