Jupiter /ˈdʒuːpɪtə/ Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest. It is the fourth brigthest object in the sky (after the Sun, the Moon and Venus). It has 69 known satellites: the four large Galilean moons plus many more small ones. Jupiter has rings like Saturn´s, but much fainter and smaller.
Venus /ˈviːnəs/ This rocky planet is the second planet from the Sun. It is very hot and has many clouds. It is about the same size as Earth. It takes 243 days for this planet to make one rotation (spin).
The Earth /ɜːθ/ it is the third planet from the Sun. This rocky planet has water and air. From space it is mostly blue from all the oceans that cover it. As far as we know, it is the only planet with life.. It is 1 AU (Astronomical Unit) from the Sun (150 million km).
Mercury /ˈmɜːkjʊrɪ/ It is a small rocky planet that is closest to the Sun. Mercury has craters on it, like our Moon. It takes 88 days to orbit the Sun. It is the smallest planet in our solar system. It is just a little bigger than Earth´s moon.
Mars /mɑːz/ Mars is a cold desert world. It is half the size of Earth. Mars is sometimes called the Red Planet. It's red because of rusty iron in the ground. Like Earth, Mars has seasons, polar ice caps, volcanoes, canyons, and weather. It has a very thin atmosphere made of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and argon.
Saturn /ˈsætɜːn/ Saturn is not’ the only planet to have rings, but it definitely has the most beautiful ones. The rings we see are made of chunks of ice and rock. Like Jupiter, Saturn is mostly a ball of hydrogen and helium. Galileo Galilei saw Saturn through a telescope in 1600.
Uranus /jʊˈreɪnəs/ Uranus is made of water, methane, and ammonia fluids above a small rocky center. Its atmosphere is made of hydrogen and helium but it also has methane. that makes Uranus blue. It also has faint rings. Like Venus, it rotates in the opposite direction as most other planets. And unlike any other planet, Uranus rotates on its side.
Neptune /ˈnɛptjuːn/ Neptune is dark, cold, and very windy. It is the last of the planets in our solar system. Neptune is very similar to Uranus. Its atmosphere is made of hydrogen, helium, and methane. The methane gives Neptune the same blue color as Uranus. Neptune has six rings, but they are very hard to see.
The Sun /sʌn/ The Sun is a star found at the center of the Solar System. It makes up around 99.% of the Solar System’s mass. The Sun is made up of hydrogen. and helium. Light from the Sun reaches Earth in around 8 minutes.
