How do you Calculate a half-life? Double the amount of time and divide the counts by two.
What is a half life? The rate of the decay of a material.
What is a radionuclide? A radioactive isotope is called radionuclide.
What are the Strength of the 3 Types of Decay? Alpha Decay, Beta Decay and Gamma Decay
What is the strength of Alpha Decay? An alpha particle is produced, this is the same as the helium nucleus.
What is the strength of Beta Decay? During beta decay a neutron is turned into a proton and beta particle (an electron) leaves the nucleus.
What is the strength of Gamma Decay? It is a form or electromagnetic radiation. Gamma rays have the most energy and therefore cause the most damage.
What is the radioactive decay symbol for Alpha Decay?

How is radiation used in medicine? Radiation is widely used in the diagnosis of certain diseases through x-rays.
What are Strontium and samarium isotopes? Strontium and samarium isotopes are used to relieve the pain caused by bone cancers.
What are the features of a chemical reaction? Changes of a chemical reaction are change of colour, change of temperature and gas.

What is Exothermic? The extra energy can be released as heat energy this is an exothermic reaction and it is more stable.
What is Endothermic? Endothermic is less stable and the atoms need to gain energy from the new arrangement.
What are balancing equations? To balance equations you have to add coefficients as required and if it's a one leave it blank.
What are radioisotopes? Radioisotopes are man made, they're made by combing protons and neutrons and are unstable.
Concerning Radioactive Isotopes, how do you find out the number of electrons? It is still the atomic number and has not changed.
Concerning Radioactive Isotopes, how do you find out the number of neutrons and protons? The mass number - atomic number Example; Nitrogen = 16, so the no. of neutrons is 16 - 7.
