Well, how can ASM help us to form questions? | ASM tells us that the question starts with an auxiliary verb, followed by the subject and the main verb: Are they going (home)? Has she done (her homework)? Will Mr Woodrow leave (tomorrow)? May I go (to the bathroom)? |
And HOW can QUASM help us??? | QUASM shows us: the question starts with a question word, followed by the auxiliary verb, the subject and the main verb: Who did your mum call? Where has your dog gone? How often have you missed the bus? |
Of course, like always, there are EXCEPTIONS to these rules, but still: memorizing the rules might help learners a great deal ...! Exceptions are: | # the full verb "to be": Are you frightened? (= only ONE verb!) # the question word "Who" meaning "Wer": Who watches a lot of documentaries? (no auxiliary verb, no subject because WHO is the SUBJECT!!! |
