How did the new deal help banks? Emergency banking act- 4 day bank holiday- closed all banks- only fit ones could reopen- supported them with government loans
What happened to African americans geographically in the 1920s? North- faced discrimination in regards to housing, employment etc South- Jim crow laws- segregation in churches, hospitals, theatres and schools
What government enforced racism was there towards African Americans? Black people had the worst jobs and the poorest standard of education. Black people also found it difficult to register to vote because of the following: Poll Tax – A tax had to be paid in order to be able to vote, and most black people were too poor to pay the tax. Literacy Tests (reading) – In order to be able to vote, people had to prove that they could read difficult extracts. If black people passed these tests, they would then be threatened and attacked so that they would not vote.A large number of black people were illiterate during this period, as a result of poor education.
What racism did they face from the KKK? Most were WASPS- wanted to appear more powerful than immigrants and minorities of the time-KKK gained 2 million followers - 1924-25 135 people were lynched- By 1924 there were 5 million members

economically how did womens lives change There was a change as far as work was concerned too, with an increase of 25 per cent in the number of women working during the 1920s. By 1929, 10.6 million women were working. By now, independent women of the middle classes and above had more money to spend. Because of this, advertising companies started targetting women in their campaigns to encourage them to buy their new products.
What was the influence of jazz culture? They also drank illegal alcohol in the speakeasies. One famous flapper of the time was Joan Crawford. She started her career as a dancer on Broadway before moving to Hollywood to make a name for herself. She starred in films such as Paris (1926) and The Unknown (1927) in which she became famous for her flapper style. Many young girls admired and copied her style. In 1929, she married Douglas Fairbanks Jr, son of Douglas Fairbanks, which proved her important status in society.corset went out of fashion 127- skirts up to knee level
