What did people look for when accusing people of being a witch? Looking evil, Having a cat, Being old, Having warts, Having a big nose,
How did people test if women were witches? They used the swimming test; the swimming test is where the people accusing you of being a witch would dunk you under the water and if you sank you were innocent and if you floated you were a witch and they would burn you at the stake. so either way you would die
What are the key factors of why witchcraft became a problem? Religion, Key individuals/Travels, Government + law makers, Media
Why was society afraid of witches? People were afraid of witches because of the powers they possessed. Witches were known to be evil and working with the devil, most people feared that these witches would inflict evil on them and their loved ones. However, there were people who never feared witches.
How were witches punished? In the seventeenth century, if you were suspected of being a witch or practicing witchcraft, you would be arrested and put on trial. Those found guilty would either be burned at stake, hanged or exiled.
