Frage Antworten
How is the Periodic Table arranged? The periodic table is arranged by atomic weight and valence electrons
What are the 3 elements on the periodic table? 1. Metals 2. Non-metals 3. Metalloids
What is an atomic number? The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
What is the mass number of an element? To plus the number of protons and neutrons to get the mass number
What are Protons? Protons are subatomic particles found in a nucleus atom, it has a positive charge, equal to and opposite of an electron.
What are Neutrons? A neutron is a subatomic particle found in the nucleus of every atom. Neutrons have no electrical charge.
What are Electrons? An electron is a negatively charged subatomic particle. It can be either free not attached to any atom or bound to the nucleus of an atom.
How many electrons are in an electron shell? The first shell (closest to the nucleus) can hold two electrons. The second shell can hold 8 electrons. The third shell can hold 32 electrons
How are electrons arranged in atoms? The electrons in an atom are arranged in shells that surround the nucleus, with each successive shell being farther from the nucleus
What is a chemical reaction? A chemical reaction is an exchange of atoms and when a chemical change occurs.
What is a physical-chemical change? Examples of physical change are freezing of water, melting of wax, boiling of water
What is a chemical change? Examples of chemical changes are burning, cooking, rusting, and rotting
What are reactants in a Chemical reaction? The substances that go into a chemical reaction are called the reactants
What are the products of a chemical reaction? The substances produced at the end of the reaction are known as the products.
What's the Law of Conservation Mass? The law of conservation of mass states that in a chemical reaction mass is neither created nor destroyed.
How are ions formed to create stable atoms? Ions are charged substances that have formed through the gain or loss of electrons.
What are cations? Cations form from the loss of electrons and have a positive charge.
What are anions? anions form through the gain of electrons and have a negative charge.
How are anions and cations different due to their properties? Cations are positively charged and Anions are negatively charged.
What are isotopes? Isotopes are atoms with the same number of protons but that have a different number of neutron
what is the different form of an isotope with fewer neutrons in its atom? Isotopes are atoms of the same element that have different numbers of neutrons but the same number of protons and electrons
