Frage Antworten
The function of Cell Membrane It is partially permeable membrane, allowing only some substances to pass through it
Function of the nucleus 1. It controls cell activities such as cell growth and the repair of worn out parts 2. It is essential. for cell division (contain chromatin made of long thread of DNA)
Function of cell wall The cell wall is made of cellulose and fully permeable 1. protects the cell from injury 2. gives the cell a fixed shape
Differences between animal and plant cell
Function of Mitochondria Mitochondria provide energy when food substances are broken down by oxidation during cell respiration (aka powerhouse)
Which organelle is involved in photosynthesis? Chloroplast (contain chloropyhll)
Definition of tissue A tissue is a group of cells with similar structures which work together to perform a specific function
Red blood cell's adaption to function 1. the rbc contains haemoglobin. Haemoglobin binds to oxygen and transport it around the body 2. It has a circular, biconcave shape. This increases the surface area to volume ratio allowing to take in and release oxygen at a faster rate 3. It also lacks a nucleus. It enables the cell to store more haemoglobin for transport of oxygen
Xylem vessel's adaption to function 1. Xylem vessels are long hollow tubes extending from the roots to leaves 2. They are narrow and have no cross wall to obstruct water flow through the lumen 3. They do not have protoplasm to offer resistance to water flow. 4. Their walls are thickened with lignin (a woody substance) to prevent collapse of the vessel.
The protoplasm of a cell consists of ? cell membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus
Root hair cell's adaption to function The root hair cell has a long and narrow root hair. This increase the surface area to volume ration of the cell to allow water and minerals salts to be absorbed at a faster rate
