Ageing skin meaning? Is recognised by darkness, wrinkles, reduced elasticity and muscle tone, pigment changes and lack of elasticity. This is a natural process of cell deterioration as the body ages. By factors such as poor skincare, pollution, illness and insufficient nutrients
Collagen meaning? It breaks down so the skin is less supported and forms wrinkles
Keratin meaning? A group of fibrous proteins forming the main structural part of hair and nails
Ance vulgaris meaning? type of acne caused by an inflammation or infection of the sebaceous glands
Nutrition meaning? The food we eat = fuel for the body. So cell repair, energy and good health rely upon the fuel the body is given. It makes sense that a good diet, with a variety of food rich in vitamins and minerals with lots of water
Allergic meaning? The body is sensitive to ingredients, products or substances which cause a physical irritation or reaction
Melanocyte meaning? A pigment cell in the epidermis (basal layer) which produces melanin to protect the skin the ultraviolet radiation
Albino meaning? A person who no pigmentation in eyes, hair or skin so the eyes appear pink and the skin is translucent
Macule meaning? A pigmented area of the skin that is not raised
Abrasives meaning? Beads in facial or body products to remove or break up the surface of the skin. They improve texture and aid desquamation (exfoliation) of the epidermis
Malignant melanoma meaning? A cancer of the melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) in the epidermis
Hypopigmentation meaning? Loss of colour, also known as vitiligo
Hyperpigmentation meaning? Too much colour, also known as chloasma
Post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation meaning? This is the discolouration of the skin remaining after a skin disease or disorder has healed
