Satyashodhak Samaj | -The Satyashoda samaj was established by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule in 1873 at Pune to give an organized form to the struggle of Bahujan Samaj against caste discrimination. -The Satyashodhak Samaj advocated the equality of all human beings. It opposed the Brahminical dominance and the explotation of Shudras and Ati-Shudras by the upper castes. -It emphasized unity of Bahujan Samaj and the spread of education among them for their betterment, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule demanded free education for all the children below 12 years of age before the Hunter Commission of 1882. -It supported the struggle of the Working class and mill workers' in Bombay. Narayan Lokhande, an associate of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, had taken the lead of organizing the mill workers' union. -The leadership of Satyashodhak Samaj was taken by Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj after the demise of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. |
