Frage Antworten
Churchill The prime minister of Great Britain from 1940-45 and later from 1951-55. He was close with both American presidents and hoped to join them in building a post-war order that limited Stalin's ability to dominate European affairs. After being voted out of his position as prime minister he continued to develop a strong anti-soviet consensus in the west. A year later Churchill delivered his "iron curtain" speech referring to the divide Stalin had built between the west and the soviet dominated (communist) eastern europe.
Roosevelt The American president from 1934-45. Was fearful of Stalin but wanted his support for the war against Japan. Wanted democracy and to establish a United Nations organisation (UN). Failed to establish a peaceful post-war cooperation between Stalin and western Europe
Stalin Leader of the Soviet communist party from 1922-53. His fear of another invasion meant he wanted to establish Soviet control of Eastern Europe including East Germany. This helped lead to the cold war as USA and Great Britain felt it was Stalin planning world domination. His fierce nature meant that he dominated both Yalta and Potsdam conferences. Russia was the largest superpower of the three countries and were keen to permanently weaken Germany. Stalin didn't trust Truman and especially Churchill. He was responsible for the Berlin blockade.
