The Structure of a Synapses
Neurotransmitters and Caffeine Caffeine mimics and alters itself so that it can pass through the CNS and be carried out into the blood stream. It shuts down the neurotransmitter adenosine - this is the n.s. that makes us tired or sleepy, so shutting down adenosine stops us from feeling fatigue. As well as that, caffeine increases levels of serotonin and acetlycholine so we feel boosted and awake, this has the effects of possibly increasing our mood and decreasing age. As well as having an effect on memory gain and muscular activity
