What happened to Germany after the war, geographically? It was split into four sectors and so was Berlin, although Berlin was firmly in the Eastern sector of Germany

Why was the West more appealing for those in the East? There was always political freedom, but there were also better jobs with higher wages
Why was East Germany left with skills shortages? Because many skilled workers left for the West
