Frage Antworten
kinetic theory describes how particles move in solids, liquids and gases. The energy an object has because of its movement is called kinetic energy.
solids strong forces of attraction hold particles in fixed regular arrangement
Liquids weaker forces of attraction close together but move past each other, irregular arrangements. more energy than solids so move in random directions at low speeds
gases almost no forces of attraction, have more energy so are free to move in random directions and high speeds
when you heat a substance you give the particles more kinetic energy KE therefore vibrate and move faster causing melting and boiling
CONDUCTION OF HEAT IS THE PROCESS WHERE VIBRATING PARTICLES PASS ON THEIR EXTRA KINETIC ENERGY TO NEIGHBORING PARTICLES.
This process continues throughout the solid and some of the KE is passed all the way through causing a rise in temperature at the other side.
