Frage Antworten
Yarns Threads spun (twisted) from fibres. Yarns made from filaments are smooth. Yarns made from staple fibres are hairier.
Natural fibres Come from natural and renewable sources (e.g. Cotton/linen/silk). Are biodegradable and often recyclable. When they are dry, they are absorbent & strong. Have poor resistance to biological damage.
Regenerated fibres Made from natural materials that are chemically treated to produce fibres. Many are made using synthetic chemicals which makes them less sustainable than natural fibres. Has similar properties to natural fibres.
Cotton Linen Comes from plants
Wool Comes from sheep and other animals
Silk Comes from silkworms
Synthetic fibres Man made fibres. Made from polymers - long chains of oil molecules. Fibres are less synthetic (because they are non-renewable). Generally resistant to biological damage. Can be changed by heating. Not very absorbent and hard to dye.
Polyester Lycra Acrylic Produced from oil molecules
