''Prayers for Bobby'' is a a film about the acceptance of the LGTB (lesbians, gays, transgender and bisexuals) community in the society.It is based on the true story that was happened in 1980s, when Bobby Griffith, a young gay man who killed himself of due to his mother's homophobia.

Bobby was his mother's favorite son, the perfect all-American boy growing up under deeply religious influences. His family was Christian.Bobby begins to believe that he is gay and speak about it with his brother, but his brother said it to their mother. Immediately after his mother knew this, she rejected he.

In hopes of come back heterosexual, her mother takes him to a psychiatrist, who explains to Bobby's parents that a person's homosexuality is the result of a close relationship with his parental figures. For this, his mother make Bobby to pray harder, go to Church and to be whith his father.

His family come to accept Bobby's homosexuality, but his mother believes God can cure him. Desperate, Bobby run away to his home and come to his cousin's home.

He meet his boyfriend in a gay bar, but, later, Bobby finds his boyfriend with other boy.Each time more depressive and hurt for the prejudices, Bobby jump from a bridge.

Caption: : ''Perverted'', ''sick'', ''a danger to our children'', ''homosexuality is a sin and gays are doomed to spend eternity in hell", are words that hurts Bobby.

Sad over Bobby's death, his mother found support in the gay community, and she transformed into an important defender of the gays and lesbians'  rights.

I have choosen this film because I really feel that it reflect the gays people's feeling when the homophobia is present. The damage generated by the homophofia is real, and it makes the people fell unsafe, and it can generate tragedies, as much as psychologicals or physicals. The ignorance can be really destructive.
