What does this sign mean?
It's placed at the location of crossroads
It warns you that there is a crossroad ahead
It warns of an unmarked crossroad location
If an approaching driver wishes to turn right at a crossroads where you are turning right, you will ideally try to pass offside-to-offside if possible on a suitably wide road.
If a driving test examiner doesn't give you a route direction on the approach to a crossroad you should normally:
Ask which way to go
Follow the road ahead
Pull on the handbrake and wait for an instruction
Guess at the most likely direction
One of the main problems at crossroads is that drivers fail to make an observation check into one of the roads when turning.
The diagram show two cars that are about to emerge into the main road at a crossroads. Both drivers wish to turn right. Which driver has priority?
The driver of the green car
The driver of the yellow car
The driver that gets to the give-way line first
Neither - both drivers have equal priority
A common 'danger' at a staggered crossroad is that:
A driver emerging from a side road might not speed up as you might expect
The driver in front of you might stop to give way to an emerging driver
Your view of the side roads might be blocked
Other drivers might not see you
At an unmarked crossroads you always have to drive at a 'snail's pace' to be safe:
