Welcome to the latest in our Maths study courses - Differentiation and Integration.
Aimed at upper secondary or high school students, this course will take you through the fundamentals, including what is differentiation and provides plenty of equations and graphs to illustrate the points being.
You can test how well you retain the information at the end of the course with our differentiation and integration quiz.
What is differentiation? Our course begins with a study note that takes you through fundamentals of differentiation and explores differentiation from first principles. We present the ideas, illustrate with graphs and give some equation examples to solve.
This set of notes explores the differentiation equations a little bit more. We examine equations for differentiating x to the power of n and also differentiating functions. Sample questions are then provided so that you can check your understanding.
Next we move on to second order derivatives. The second derivative gives the rate of change of the derivative, or the gradient of the curve, with respect to x. Our note explains these concepts with real life example and sample questions.
Now it is time to look at graphical representations of differentiation. This note illustrates how we can use differentiation to discover gradients and tangents. It also explores maxima, minima and stationary points.
What is integration? Integration is the reverse of differentiation. Join us as we explore basics of integration, and look closer at the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. We present sample equations on each topic to make sure you are keeping up!
Our final topic in this course on Differentiation and Integration, we look at definite integrals. Using graphs we explore the main points that you need to understand to master the topic. You will also find sample equation questions at the end.
We finish up your Course with a quiz to test your knowledge on all the aspects that have gone before. These questions are based on the differentiation and integration principles presented in course and take the form of solving equations and mapping graphs
