Binary | a number system that contains, two digits, 0 and 1. also known as base 2. |
Bit | a binary digit, the smallest unit of data in computing represented by a 1 & 0 in binary. |
byte | the name for 8 bits. |
Denary | the number system most commonly used by people. It contains 10 unique digits 0 to 9. Also known as decimal or base 10 |
Place Value | The value that a digit has because of its position in a number. |
Overflow error | An error that happens when the computer does not have enough space allocated to store the answer to a calculation so it loses part of the answer making it wrong. |
Bitmap image | An image stored as a grid of binary numbers |
Colour depth | The amount of bits available for colours in an image. |
Pixel | A single dot of colour in a bitmap image |
Resolution | The number of pixels in a bitmap image. The higher the resolution of an image, the more detail it holds. |
