Wound Closure - prevents infection and loss of fluid, promotes healing, prevents contractions, performed on day 5 - 21 following the injury, depending on the extent of the burn Care of the donor site -Varies -Nonadherent gauze may be used at time of surgery to maintain pressure and stop any oozing, covering the site decreases discomfort from exposed nerve ending -may order gauze with petrolatum or with biosynethetic dressing keep the donor site clean, dry and free from pressure -prevent scratching apply lubricating lotions to soften the area and reduce the itching after the site has healed -site can be resused once healing has occurred (heals spontaneously within 7 - 14 days with proper care)
