Question | Answer |
Electrical Shock | Current is the flow of electrons measured in Amperes (A) Very small levels of current can ultimately kill you. (e.g. milliamperes: mA) To receive an electric shock you must become part of the circuit. |
0.5mA - 2mA | Threshold of perception |
2mA - 10mA | Painful sensation, increasing with current |
10mA - 25mA | Cramp and inability to let go. Increase in blood pressure. Breathing difficulties caused by muscular contractions of the lungs |
25mA - 80mA | Severe muscular contractions sometimes with bone fractures. Increased blood pressure. Loss of consciousness from heart and breathing failure |
80mA + | Burns at point of contact. Death from heart failure. |
