What is catenation? The property of Carbon to form large chains with each other.
How many compounds can carbon potentially form? Infinite.
What are the four main types of organic compounds? Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids and Nucleic Acids
What are carbohydrates made of? Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. The general formula is (CH2O)n
What are lipids made of? Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen. The ratio of these is different from carbohydrates.
What are proteins made of? Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen. Some proteins contain Sulfur and Selenium.
What are nucleic acids made of? Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Phosphorous. An example of a nucleic acid is DNA
