Question | Answer |
Force | A push or a pull |
Mass | The amount of matter in an object |
Weight | the force applied to an object due to the gravitational attraction of a large mass like the Earth |
The Normal Reaction Force | A force that acts perpendicular to a surface as a result of an object applying a force to the surface |
Friction | A force that resists the relative motion or tendency of such motion between 2 bodies or substances in contact |
Air resistance/Drag | A force that opposes the relative motion of an object through a fluid |
Net Force | The vector sum of the forces acting on an object |
Newtons 1st Law | An object will remain at rest and a moving object will continue with the same velocity unless an unbalanced external force acts on it |
Inertia | The tendency of an object to resist a change in its motion. The mass of an object is a measure of its Inertia |
Newtons 2nd Law | The acceleration of an object will be directly proportional to the net force acting and inversely proportional to the mass of the object. The acceleration will also be in the direction of the force |
Newtons 3rd Law | If object A applies a force to object B, then object B will apply an equal magnitude force in the opposite direction on object A for the same duration |
