Question | Answer |
Solids, Liquids and Gases | First topic I will be covering in Chemistry |
What are they? | They are the 3 states of matter; to define them I will give each state a revision card 1 state= 1 revision card |
Solids | Solids are your average daily objects (e. g pens, pencils e. t. c) They have a fixed shape and all particles are compact and vibrate vigorously, but we don't see this. |
Liquids | Liquids are like water, juice e. t. c . The particles take any shape of their container but all their particles touch |
Gases | Gases are air, oxygen, hydrogen e. t. c. They are spaced freely but don't take any particular shape |
What is a particle model? | A particle model is a model that expresses the substances in illustrated particles. There are many purposes and more which I will be listing |
One of the main facts is that... | All substances and states are made of particles!!! |
All particles are attracted to each other | Some particles are attracted strongly (solids) while other substances have a weak bond (gases). |
All particles move around. They are described to have kinetic energy by doing this | The kinetic energy of the particles increases with temperature |
