| What did they gain? | Not much really. The marchers didn't receive any benefits during the march, and this left their families poorer than ever. However an MP, Sir John Jarvis, took an interest In Jarrow and set up a small steel works there. This only employed 200 men, but gave the government an excuse to ignore Jarrow. |
