Question Answer
Reasonable An estimate is reasonable if it is close to the actual answer
Rounding To give an approximate value
Front-end estimation A way of rounding numbers. For eg. 324 is rounded off to 300.
Prime Number a number that has 1 and itself Eg: 1,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23
Composite number A number that has more than two different factors For eg: 2 x 3= 6 so 6 is a composite number having 2 and 3 as its factors
Whole numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Common factor When factors are common (same) for 2 or more numbers. Example: 12 and 16 • The factors of 12 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12 • The factors of 16 are: 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 So the common factors of 12 and 16 are: 1, 2 and 4
Greatest Common factor (GCF) Greatest of common factors Example: 12 and 16 • The factors of 12 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12 • The factors of 16 are: 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 So the common factors of 12 and 16 are: 1, 2 and 4 So, out of 1,2,and 4 = 4 is the greatest.So 4 is GCF
