Question Answer
Momentum a property given to a mass that is moving; the product of a body's mass and velocity
Principle of conservation of momentum If no external forces are acting, the total momentum of a system of colliding bodies is constant.
Elastic A collision in which KE is conserved
Inelastic A collision in which KE is not conserved
Boyle's Law Fixed mass of gas at constant temp: volume is inversely proportional to pressure
Charles' Law Fixed mass of gas at constant pressure: volume is directly proportional to absolute temp.
Pressure Law Fixed mass of gas with constant volume: pressure directly proportional to absolute temperature
Specific Heat Capacity The quantity of heat energy required to raise 1kg of a material by 1K
Simple Harmonic Motion Any object that is displaced from a stable equilibrium will oscillate. The acceleration of this object will be: - In the direction of the equilibrium - proportional to the displacement
Half Life The time taken for the activity of a material to fall to half its original value
Binding Energy Energy that holds a nucleus together
Binding energy per nucleon average energy required to remove a single neutron from a nucleus
Critical Size The size of fuel assembly required which is just capable of sustaining a chain reaction within it.
