CD / DVD / Floppy Drives (If you have one + Speed + Type)
What is a good Example question to use if the Hardware Factors are poor? 1.) If the system has an old slow processor/memory will take too long to process the data. 2.) So you need to / Have to consider the cost of upgrading.
What Hardware Factors effect the Efficiency of Data Processing? 1.) CPU (Central Processing Unit) 2.) RAM (Random Access Memory) 3.) Graphics / Video Card (GPU) 4.) Hard Drive (HDD / SSD) 5.) CD, DVD or Floppy Drives
What does it mean by the Suitability Of the Operating System? & Give Examples of different OS's 1.) It means how suitable is the OS for the program you need to run & use on it. 2.) In a basic term Application software and operating system must match. 3.) Windows : 98,2000, ME, XP, Vista, 7, 8 MAC: OS9, OS x Linux: Ubuntu, Ki, Raspbian
What can happen to Application considering the Suitability Of the Operating System? 1.) Older applications may not run on newer OS. 2.) New applications may not run on older OS.
What is a Good example when considering the Suitability of the OS? 1.) For Example If there is a need for quick up to date information, there is no point running it on a batch processing system.
What is meant by Communication & Input when Considering the Efficiency of Data Processing? Or What is a Good Communication & Input when Considering the Efficiency of Data Processing? 1.) Effective communication between developers and users. 2.) Output for a system needs to be considered when developing because it determines what needs to be input. 3.) Validation and verification in place. 4.) GIGO Output depends on accuracy of input.
What Other Factors can Effect the Efficiency of Data Processing? 1.) Speed of implementation 2.) Change in circumstances during development 3.) Compatibility - Do the different devices talk properly to each other. 4.) Competence of users / poor training 5.) Post-implementation procedures – Do they use training manuals / error logs / auditing procedures. 6.) Cost – of maintaining software upgrades + of developing system + of installation. 7.) Hardware support / reliability
What is Meant by the Speed of Implementation? 1.) It means in it's basic form how quick can a person get out the change or improvement that need to be made.
What are the Factors when Considering the Capabilities & Limitations of ICT Systems? (9 In Total) 1.) How Fast Repetitive Processing can be done. 2.) The Speed of Processing. 3.) The Data Storage Capacity. 4.) The Speed of Searching for Data. 5.) How Accurate the Data is. 6.) The Speed of Data Communication. 7.) The compatibility of Different Output Formats. 8.) If you are able to search and combine data. 9.) The security of data and processes.
What is Fast Repetitive Processing in Relation to ICT Systems? 1.) Many tasks on a ICT System are repetitive & need to be completed quickly. 2.) The faster the system it is the easier it is to complete these tasks quicker & more Efficiently.
What can Fast Repetitive Processing in Relation to ICT Systems Be used for? (Give Examples) 1.) Production of utility bills. 2.) Performing a mail merge. 3.) Sending the same e-mail to a large group of people. 4.) Setting up a style sheet so all documents produced by an organisation look similar.
What is The Speed Processing in Relation to ICT Systems? 1.) As some applications need to process information really quickly. They need as much Processing Power as the system can hold / produce. 2.) The Faster the processing is the quicker & easier the application can run. The application will be able to run more efficiently. 3.) The Speed of Processing is very Important to applications that dig & sort through huge amounts of data.
What can The Speed of Processing in Relation to ICT Systems Be used for? (Give Examples) (Very High Speed Processing) Big Data crunching applications can include things like: 1.) Weather forecasting. 2.) Systems which give stock market information. 3.) Production of utility bills (e.g., gas, electricity).
What can The Data Storage Capacity in Relation to ICT Systems Be used for? 1.) As Storage is cheap it is a huge beneficial part for Computer Systems. 2.) As Many new applications have been developed to look for patterns in stored data. 3.) Companies can understand customer buying habits better the more information they hold about them.
What Problems can regarding Data Storage with Organisations ICT Systems? 1.) As Organisations are not restricted by storage space or time taken to search for matching records. 2.) This means that they can take as long as they want to find a specific record without any legal action.
What can The Speed of Searching in Relation to ICT Systems Be used for? 1.) If large stores of data are held, then speed of searching for information is important. 2.) The quicker a piece of data can be searched for & then found the cheaper it is. 3.) This is especially useful when looking for bookings as the quicker one company can find a booking the more people use there service.
What can The Speed of Searching in Relation to ICT Systems Be used for when regarding businesses? (Give Examples) (Very High Speed Searching) (B_oking) Take searches on the Internet as an example: 1.) Holiday or flight databases need to come up with details quickly otherwise user will move to another site. 2.) Quicker it is in searching it eliminates this problem more & more.
Why can The Accuracy of Information in Relation to ICT Systems Be Beneficial? With ICT, calculations are performed automatically this means a lot of things: 1.) There is Less chance of human error provided input data is verified and validated. 2.) Provided the input is correct and the system has been programmed correctly, the answer will be right. 3.) So the more accurate the Information the better it is for the System & so the Company who uses it.
Why can The Speed of data Communication in Relation to ICT Systems Be Beneficial? 1.) As ICT Systems are used for many communication methods the faster this is the easier it is for people to have communication to each other without any issue. 2.) This really means the faster it is the quicker you can communicate back to people through any means over the web.
Why can The Speed of data Communication in Relation to ICT Systems Be Beneficial? (Give Examples of it's use) 1.) Allows real-time video. 2.) Allows speech to be passed using the Internet (e.g., Skype phones). 3.) Allows webcams to be used. 4.) Allows fast download of music and video. 5.) Allows e-mails to be sent and replied to within minutes.
What is Meant by Allowing different output formats In ICT Systems? (Give Examples of the different output formats) The same information can be presented differently to suit the needs of users: 1.) Audio can be used for visually impaired users. 2.) Files can be attached to e-mails so that user can further process the files if needed ect. 3.) Pod-casts can be used so user can listen whilst on the move. 4.) Hard copy's can be produced if further study of the information is needed.
What is Beneficial for Allowing different output formats In ICT Systems? 1.) The more output formats you have on a ICT System the easier it is to communicate to people. 2.) It also allows more efficient work to be done as you can easily email these different formats to anyone who will / might need them.
What is meant by being Able to search and Combine Data in Relations to ICT Systems? & What is Beneficial for Being Able to search and Combine Data In ICT Systems? Searches are often performed when little information is known: 1.) A hit and run accident where only part of the registration number is known along with a few other details such as colour of the car. 2.) Data from different sources can be used to build a better picture. The more the data from different sources the more accurate the Information.
What is Beneficial for Improved security of data and processes In Relation to ICT Systems? (Examples) 1.) Easier to secure data with user-IDs and passwords. 2.) Easier to back up data. 3.) Easier to transfer back-up data off-site. 4.) File permissions mean data can only be altered by authorised staff. 5.) Processes are performed by computers so harder to abuse. 6.)
