Question | Answer |
Resultant Force | The overall force on a point or object. |
Velocity | How fast you are going with a distance. |
Gradient | Change in distance divided by the change in time. |
Acceleration | How quickly the velocity is changing. |
Gravitational Force | Force of attraction between all masses. |
Stopping Distance | Thinking distance + Braking Distance |
Speed | How fast you are going. |
Terminal Velocity | How fast an object can possibly fall. |
Light Depentant Resistor | More Light = More resistance |
Acceleration | A change in velocity in a positive way i.e. an object getting faster. |
Thinking distance | The length a vehicle travels while the driver is reacting to a situation. |
Braking distance | The length a vehicle moves from the moment the brakes are applied to when it has come to a complete stop. |
Motion | The process of an object changing position, orientation or location. |
Weight | mass x gravity measured in kg |
mass | The amount of a substance. The mass stays the same regardless of where it is but how much it weighs will change depnding on the gravity. |
Terminal velocity | The fastest speed possible. Happens when the opposing forces (e.g. gravity and air resistance) are balanced. |
Speed | A way of measureing the distance travelled in a certain amount of time. |
Gravitational force | The amount of attraction an object has on other objects. |
Resultant force | The overall force acting on an object. |
calculation for acceleration | (v-u)/t |
Limit of proportionality | The point where a law no longer applies, e.g. Hooke's law, springs stretch proportionaly until the limit is reached then they over stretch and their elasticity is permanently changed. |
Kinetic energy | Energy present in any moving object. (All particles above 0K are moving so we only really class movement if it is visible) |
Stopping distance | The total length travelled by a vehicle from the moment a situation occurs until it has come to a complete stop. Thinking distance + Braking distance |
LDR | An electrical component. When the light level changes the resistance changes. Used in light sensors for street lamps. |
Gravitational potential energy | The energy stored in an object that has been raised about the surface of the planet. |
Radioactive | A substance that emits either alpha, beta or gamma radiation naturally. |
