Question Answer
The Seven Life Processes 1.Movement 2.Respiration 3.Sensitivity 4.Growth 5.Reproduction 6.Excretion 7.Nutrition Mnemonic: MRS GREN
Movement This is the usual action every living organism in this world does, but except plants, which do move but at a significantly slow rate
Respiration Every organism does need energy to carry out all the other six life processes and this is achieved by respiration. This is when glucose combines with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water and most importantly energy. In the case of plants this happens mostly at nights, where there is no light, instead of photosynthesis respiration occurs.
Sensitivity How would you feel touching a hot pan barehanded? You wouldn't hold it for long because you SENSE that the temperature is destructive. We have more than 5 senses in our bodies and other organisms have many. Plants are sensitive to light (photo tropism) and gravity (geo tropism)
Growth We grow. We all like to look tall and smart. We are not the same size as when we were small babies. This is an essential process for maturity. Plants grow taller than us.
