CPR Canadian Pacific Railway: The railway that connected Canada from coast to coast. Finished in 1885.
Open Door Policy An immigration policy that puts no restrictions on who can immigrate
Head tax A tax paid only by Chinese immigrants to Canada; originally $50 in 1885, was raised to $100 in 1900, and then once more in 1903 to $500.
Rocky Mountains Canada's youngest mountain range
Family Compact A small group of people that controlled Upper Canada's government

The Creation of The CPR Was crucial to Canada's development to transport trades and help extend the country from coast to coast
Manitoba Schools Act Recognized French as a national language and eliminated government funding from Catholic schools
Great Migration A period of high immigration rates from 1815 to 1850
Durham Report An important document in Canada's history written by Lord Durham that recommended that Upper and Lower Canada, as well as all of the colonies of British North America join together and be given responsible government.
Confederation Conferences Conferences that were held to form the confederation of Canada. They were held in London, Quebec, and Charlottetown.
Red River Resistance A group of Metis formed by Louis Riel to fight against the selling of Rupert's Land by the Hudson's Bay Company.
