Acquired Immunity	Immunity that the body develops after overcoming disease after inoculation or through exposure to natural allergens such as pollen, cat hair and ragweed.
Allergy	Reaction due to extreme sensitivity to certain foods, chemicals, or other normally harmless substances
Bleach	To make lighter or whiten; to remove color or stains; A chemical preparation used to remove the color from hair; also used in some preparation to lighten skin pigmentation. Also used to clean or sterilize
Chelating Soap	Also known as “chelating detergents”; they break down stubborn films and remove the residue of pedicure products such as scrubs, salts, and masks.
Customer Service	The provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase/service.
Efficacy	The ability to produce or affect.
EPA Environmental Protection Agency	Registers all types of disinfectants used and sold in the United States.
Ethics	The moral principles by which we live and work
Fungi	Single cell organism that grow in irregular masses that include molds, mildews and yeasts; can produce contagious diseases such as ringworm.
Gold and Silver	Gold- The term to use the presence of yellow tones and not ashy. Silver- Hair that has grayed and that resembles the metallic white of silver metal.
Hepatitis	A blood borne virus that causes disease and damage the liver.
Mildew	A type of fungus that affects plants or grows on inanimate objects, but does not cause human infections in the salon.
Motivation/ Self management	The process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal oriented behaviors.
Parasites	Organisms that grow, feed, and shelter on or in another organism while contributing nothing to the survival of that organism. Parasites must have host to survive.
Physical Presentation	Your posture, as well as the way you look and move.
Prevention	The act of preventing or hindering
Protoplasm	A colorless jelly like substance found inside cells in which food elements such as proteins, fats, carbohydrates, mineral salts, and water are present.
Spirilla	Spiral or corkscrew- shaped bacteria that cause diseases such as syphilis and Lyme disease.
Time Management	The ability to use ones time effectively or productively; especially at work.
Toxins	Various poisonous substances produces by some microorganisms (bacteria and viruses)
Diplococci	Spherical bacteria that grow in pairs and cause diseases such as pneumonia
Binary Fission	The division of bacteria cells into two new cells called daughter cells
Pediculosis Capitis	Infestation of the head and scalp with head lice
Phenolic Disinfectants	Powerful tuberculocidal disinfectants. They are a form of formaldehyde, have a very high pH and can damage the skin and eyes. Bay
