Question Answer
Aggregation Relationship A special-purpose UML notation representing the relationship between two classes that are often considered together, such as when a sports league is made up of a collection of teams.
Association UML symbol that depicts the relationship between two classes and is modeled as a solid line that connects two classes in a model.
Attributes Data elements that describe instances in a class like fields in a database table such as characteristics, properties or adjectives that describe each class.
Business Rule Statements of constraints on business processes that provide the logic which guides the behavior of the business in specific situations.
Cardinalities Associations defining how one entity links to another
Class All individual collections of assets, whether objects, individuals, or conceptual structures, a business wants to collect and store information.
Class Diagram Structure models prepared using UML notation.
Composition Relationship Special purpose UML notation showing the relationship between two classes often considered together when one class cannot exist without the other class.
Constraints Rules and guidelines outlining how processes are completed and decisions are made.
Data Models Graphic representation of the conceptual contents of databases supporting communication about the database contents between users and designers of the database.
Entities Classes in UML notations depicting people, things, and events of interest.
Foreign Key Attibutes that allow database tables to be linked. Foreign keys of one table are the primary keys of another linked table and support the link between the two tables.
Generalization Relationship Special purpose UML symbol supporting grouping of things with common characteristics. This symbol reduces redundancy because the shared characteristics need only be modeled once.
Multiplicities UML symbols showing the minimum and maximum number of times one class can be associated with another class. The symbols show one to one, one to many, or many to many relationships.
Primary Key An attribute or combination of attributes uniquely identifying a class in a data model or row in a table.
Relationship The business purpose for the association of two classes or two database tables.
Structure Model Conceptual depiction of a database. This can be a UML class model or entity-relationship model.
