What is a computer system? A computer system applies to any equipment which uses computer technology.
What is hardware? Hardware is the physical parts of a computer system that you can touch
What is software? Software is the programs and apps that run on computer systems and follow instructions to perform a task.
What is a input device? Any device that allows you to input data into a computer system.
what is a output device? A output device is a device used by a computer system to output information.
What is the four box model?
What are some examples of input and output devices? Input: Motion Sensor, Smoke Sensors, Camera and Volume dial. Output: Light, Touch Screen and Speaker.
What is the five box model?
What is an embedded system? Any device that includes a computer but it is not its self a general purpose computer, which includes hardware and soft ware and is expected to run without human intervention.
What is reliability? Consistently good in quality of performance; able to be trusted.
What is the acronym for the units of storage and what units of storage are they? Big- Bit Naughty- Nibble Boys- Byte Kicked- Kilobyte My- Megabyte Granny- Gigabyte Twice- Terabyte
What is virtual memory? Virtual memory is when a computer uses a section of the hard disk to supplement the main memory.
What does RAM stand for? Random Access Memory
What does ROM stand for? Read Only Memory
What does BIOs stand for? Basic Input Output System
What is cache memory? Cache is a type of RAM, it is the fastest type of RAM which allows quick access to data. Cache memory is volatile so when it shuts down the data is lost. Cache is also closer to the main memory so it is quicker to get it. Also if it has done it before it will do it quicker than if it has never seen it before. The memory is only temporarily stored in cache before its lost.
What does CPU stand for? Central Processing Unit.
What is the fetch execute cycle? 1. The processor fetches an instruction from the memory 2. The instruction is decoded 3. The processor executes(runs) that instruction
What is clock speed? Clock speed is the rate which instructions are carried out. It is measured in Hz (the number of times the clock ticks per second) Every tick 1 instruction, so 1GHz means that a thousand million instructions are carried out per second.
What is dual and quad core? Dual and Quad core is when the computer has 2 or 4 CPUs.
