Question Answer
What affects the rate of reaction? Temperature, concentration, particle size and the use of a catalyst.
What is a catalyst? A catalyst increases the rate of reaction, but is not used up in it.
What is the formula for calculating the rate of reaction? rate = change in volume/change in time
Why would a catalyst be used in industry? It allows the reaction to be preformed at a lower temperature, saving energy and money.
How does temperature affect the rate of reaction? The higher the temperature, the faster the reaction. The lower the temperature, the slower the reaction.
How does concentration affect the rate of reaction? The higher the concentration, the faster the reaction. The lower the concentration, the slower the reaction.
How does particle size affect the rate of reaction? The smaller the particle, the faster the reaction. The bigger the particle, the slower the reaction.
