Reasons why Commerce is important to study: Understand the world we live in, to work with laws + regulations, understand human behaviour
Define Commerce: Social dealings between people. The activity of buying and selling, especially on a large scale.
Who has a role in our commercial world? Consumers, Businesses providing services, Businesses providing goods, Government services, Financial sector and Law.
What is a consumer? A consumer is a person that purchases goods and services for personal use.
What is E-Commerce? The buying and selling of information, goods and services via the internet.
What is an E-trailer? An electronic retailer or individuals that sell goods online.
What is "online"? Something controlled by or connected to a computer.
What is a website? A location connected to the internet that maintains one or more web pages
What is "Business to consumer" Services or goods sold over the internet. Payment usually by credit card. Example: ASOS
What is "Business to Business"? Covers electronic transactions with other businesses. E.g. Paying bills, sending quotes, ordering supplies etc.
What is net investing? The amount spent by a company or economy on capital assists, or gross investment, less depreciation.
What is EPS? The portion of a company's profit allocated to each outstanding share of common stock. Earnings per share serves as an indicator of a company's profitability
what is E-banking? method of banking in which the customer conducts transactions electronically via the internet
What is M-Commerce? Commercial transactions conducted electronically by mobile phone.
What is a Cookie? a file that a web server stores on the user's computer when a website is visited. A cookie gathers information about the user.
What is the term Copyright? Protects an author, artist, musician or publisher by giving them exclusive rights over creation
What is deformation? Unlawfully damaging a person's reputation.
