What is fission? The division or splitting into two or more parts
What is nuclear fission? A nuclear reaction in which a heavy nucleus splits spontaneously or on impact with another particle, with the release of energy.
Where does nuclear fission occur? It occurs in power stations (man-made) and in suns and stars (natural)
What is a diagram for fission?
Why can fission be useful? It can be useful as it produces a lot of energy and is also relatively easy to maintain once the chain begins
What are the problems with sustaining nuclear fission? If the chain reaction gets out of hand it can very quickly turn bad and is hard to bring back from this state
