What is the purpose of a dendrite? Carries impulses towards cell body
Purpose of an axon? Carries impulses away from cell body.
Myelin sheath? Speed up transmission of impulse and protects the axon.
Nodes of Ranvier? Gaps that segment the myelin sheath. Speed up transmission by forcing it to "jump" along the gaps.
Cell body? Contains nucleus.
