  2. Angina Pectoris
  3. Myocardial Infarct
  4. Sudden cardiac death
2. Causes: Atherosclerosis, altered myocardial function, arrhythmia, HTN
  1. Altered myocardial function may be systolic or diastolic
    1. CHF when accompanied by edema

Common signs & symptoms: chest pressure, dyspnea, fatigue, syncope, palpitations
1. HTN is the most prevalent CVD
  1. Review Stages & Values
  2. Review Pharmacological Intervention
  3. Pts with hypertensive heart disease present with exertional dyspnea, fatigue, impaired exercise tolerance, tachycardia, chest discomfort, and signs of heart failure
Myocardial Infarct
1. Referral to right chest, left jaw, sternal chest, left arm, epigastric region, and mid-back
  1. Once "ruled in" for an MI
    1. Keep the pt. stable and optimize wound healing of myocardium
      1. Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty
        Low intensity ambulation for 1-2 weeks and then exercise
      2. Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
        Much longer rehab period
        Energy conservation
        Sternal precautions
        Posture, scapular retraction, fxnl shoulder movement
        Saphenous vein, radial artery, internal mammillary artery
