Cloud Computing
  1. A computer service on another organisations computers. A.K.A hosts
    1. The services are provided by companies known as hosting companies
      1. A few well known companies are google and amazon
        1. Cloud users can access software, data and storage on the host computers, which will be at a remote location
          1. Users can access this from a web browser or phone app but never directly access the server.
            1. Cloud Computing and cloud storage
              1. Availability: Data and files are be available anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection. (Benefit)
                1. Cost and convenience: You only pay for the storage you have used (sometimes you dont have to pay). You dont have to provide and maintain hardware (Benefit)
                  1. Reliability of Network: you need to be able to get through to the host to access and process data (Concern)
                    1. Security of data: The files are being stored by the host, so you have no control over them. You need to be aware of their security terms and policies (concern)
                      1. Multiple people: With cloud computing multiple people can access your files and edit them meaning tthat any work that someone has done can be deleted by anyone at any moment and replace with something silly, etc. (concern)
                      2. IAAS - Infrastructure as a service.
                        1. Storing songs with amazon
                        2. SAAS - Software as a service
                          1. Microsoft Office 365
                            1. Google drive
                            2. Cloud Storage
                              1. Related to cloud computing
                                1. Where only the storage, access, and retrieval facilities are provided by the host provider, via internet.
                                2. Hardware & Software
                                  1. Hardware is things like the actual computer. The things you can touch.
                                    1. Software is the programs on the hardware. Things you can't touch.
                                    2. PAAS - Platform As A Service
                                      1. Writing computer games
                                      2. Service providers
                                        1. Some clouds that provide these services are:
                                          1. Amazon
                                            1. Google Cloud

                                                2. The term ‘cloud’ is often used as a metaphor for the internet. The exact origin of where the term cloud computing comes from is unclear but many believe it relates to drawings which used clouds to denote networks in diagrams of computing and communications systems
