    1. A responsible reader questions the text, find answers to support claims from the author or their own
      1. Look for evidence in the text to support their claims.
        1. Are willing to change or defend their claim with evidence from the text.
          1. Can use both the information they bring to the text and what the text has brought to them
          2. Responsive Readers Explores the Text
            1. Reads with curiosity by thinking what will happen next.
              1. Makes connections to personal experiences, emotions and the text itself (also out side) .
                1. Makes observations about what the text is saying and why.
                  1. Reacts to the text by asking questions.
                    1. A responsive reader explores the text, looking for new ideas, information and evidence.
                    2. Responsible Readers Ask the " Three Big Questions"
                      1. By asking the "3 Big Questions" a responsible reader is able to determine fact from fiction, is the text able to support their claim and see a different perspective
                        1. How has it changed my thinking?
                          1. What did the author think I knew?
                            1. What surprised me?
                            2. Responsive Readers Respond to the text.
                              1. Make the text matter..
                                1. Let the text inspire them to do or learn more.
                                  1. Respond to the words on the page and their own thoughts
                                    1. By responding to the text a reader can awaken emotions, ideas and be inspired to go beyond the classroom, book and world.
                                      1. Let the text affect them both emotionally and intellectually.
                                      2. Good Readers Combine
                                        1. A good reader is a combination of responsible and responsive. Both need to ask questions, respond to challenges and grow their understanding.
