Chemistry C.1.2
  1. Structures, Bonding and Something Else
    1. Ionic Bonding
      1. In Ionic Bonding, atoms either lose or gain to form (charged particles)
        1. The ions are then strongly attracted to each other, because of the opposite charges
        2. All the atoms from the elements that are located on left side of the periodic table have just one or two electrons in their outer shell
          1. This means they are keen to get rid of these extra electrons and when they do it leave the atoms as a ion
            1. These ions then attach themselves to the nearest ion with an opposite charge
          2. All the atoms from the elements in groups 6 & 7 have outer shell that are nearly full
            1. This means these elements really want to get the extra one or two electrons
              1. When they do get these extra electrons they also become ions and they become attached to another ion with the opposite charge.
            2. All ionic compounds have a regular lattice structure
              1. All ionic compounds have similar properties
              2. Covalent Bonding
                1. Covalent bonding is another form of boding that involves sharing electrons
                  1. They only share electrons that are found on their outer shell
                  2. Water, methane and Ammonia are all boded covalently
                  3. Metallic Bonding
                    1. Only happens between metals
