    1. Based on the Crimean War (1853-1856) on the mistakes and regrets made during the war as the men were slaughtered.
    2. Form
      1. Third person narrative and the fast pace is due to the regular rhyming scheme created. The rhyming couplets/triplets mirror a stumbling horse or soldier.
      2. Structure
        1. Chronolgical order of how the brigade went and the first 3 stanzas is the soldiers going into battle and the 4th is the retreat and the final is the heroism of the soldiers who died.
        2. Language
          1. Repitition, heroic and violent language used to show the chaos and the ditraught during the war and especially the brigade.
          2. Attitudes and Feelings
            1. Admiration, patronism and horror are used as the feelings of the soliders are confused and distraught as they fear for their lives.
