  1. Power Distance PD
    1. Low Power and responsibility ∴ shared more equally
      1. This is where countries may question authority
        1. Interaction Design outcome: Symbols of power (high power distance), Lack of freedom of info (high PD), Motivation Grabbing High PD use symbols, Low PD focus on user
      2. HI Power invested in an elite who, in return for respect and obedience, care for the others.
        1. This is where countries have a dictator like figure be it school, country, family. People/Children respect authority.
      3. INDIVIDUALISM (IND)
        1. Hi (IND) Everyone is expected to look after themselves and immediate family.
          1. Low (IND) Collective is valued more than individual interest. avoidance of conflict
            1. Interaction Design Outcome: Symbols of success (high IND), Rhetorical Style (high IND) different oppinion are tolerated
          2. Masculinity-Femininity (MAS)
            1. HI - Gender roles are clearly differntiated
              1. Low - Gender role aren't so clear: overall values of caring and nurturing.
                1. Differences in gender Riles: Website in cultures with Hi MAS will have traditional differences. Motivation/attention grabbing: hi MAS emphasis on games, competitions and quick results; Low MAS = emphasis on aesthetics
              2. Uncertainty Avoidance (UA)
                1. HI = Seek to avoid uncertainty: welcomes routine, security, frameworks
                  1. LOW (UA) = Enjoys exploring new situations, innovating and experimenting
                    1. Interaction Design outcomes: Navigation (low UA) welcome unpredictabity and novelty. (high UA) Achieve goals with structure. Treatment of Errors = (low AU) minor errors tolerated. Ambiguities = (low UA) same colour, typography. Simplicity = (low UA) Website to be as simple as possible.
