Multiplying
When multiplying a number by 10 you move all the digits in the number 1 place to the left and fill in the gaps with 0s.
When multiplying a number by 100 you move all the digits 2 places to the left and fill in the gaps with 0s.
52 x 100 = 5,200
52 x 10 = 520
Multiplying a number by 0.1 is the same as dividing that number by 10.
Multiplying a number by 0.01 is the same as dividing that number by 100.
52 x 0.01 = 52/100 = 0.52
52 x 0.1 = 52/10 = 5.2
Dividing
When dividing a number by 10 you move all the digits 1 place to the right and fill in the gaps with 0s.
When dividing a nimber by 100 you move all the digits 2 places to the right and fill in the gaps with 0s.
52/100 = 0.52
52/10 = 5.2
Dividing a number by 0.1 is the same as multiplying that number by 10.
Dividing a number by 0.01 is the same as multiplying that number by 100.
52/0.01 = 52 x 100 = 5,200
52/0.1 = 52 x 10 = 520
