Neurons
Shape of Neurons- although all serve the same function, they can vary in size/shape and types of information they communicate
Multipolar neuron- lots of dendrite and inputs. Complex information.
Bipolar neuron- two general projections. Passes information along.
Monopolar neuron- one projection from the cell body. Can be a meter long. Simple communication (spinal cord)
Sensory neuron- one end is highly sensitive to a specific stimulation
Afferent axons- brings information into the body from the outside
Motor neuron- soma is in the spinal cord. Receives excitation from other neurons and conducts impulses along an axon into a muscle
Efferent axons- carries information away from the body to the outside
